Abstract

239,418. Olin, J. M., and Smith, J. B. Dec. 24, 1924. Blasting fuzes and detonators. - The poles 5, Fig. 3, of an electric fuze for a blasting-detonator are notched at their ends 14 by means of a cutter 12, Fig. 2, while the poles are held with a plug 7 in a die 11. A filament 8, Fig. 4, is then inserted across the notched ends which are pressed over the filament, by means of members 15. The poles 5 with the plug 7 and filament 8 are secured in the mouth of the detonator casing 1, Fig. 1, by means of a plug 9 of sulphur and a plug 10 of pitch, which materials are poured into the casing.
