Abstract

354,883. Power-generating systems. DRYSDALE & CO., Ltd. and YOUNG, J., Bon-Accord Works, Ferry Road, Yoker, Glasgow. May 26, 1930, No. 16089. [Class 122 (iii).] In a steam installation including a high-pressure steam supply 3 and low-pressure steam consumers 5, to avoid the use of a reducing-valve between them and consequent loss of energy a steam engine 1 is connected to the high-pressure supply and exhausts into the low-pressure system 4 supplying the consumers 5. The pressure in the system 4 is maintained constant by an engine exhaust valve 6 controlled by a diaphragm subjected to the pressure in the system. A byepass 12 with a reducing valve 13 therein is arranged between the steam supply 3 and the system 4 to deal with overloads. The engine drives a dynamo 2 which through an automatic voltage paralleling and reversing current contactor switch 15<1> supplies mains 15 normally fed from a main dynamo.
