Description

In some power plants, installed high pressure preheaters in the regenerative cycle of turbines are not included in the work due to the considerations that if the preheater tubes break, water may enter the turbine. Since the heater gives about 3% savings of burning fuel, naturally, its non-use is detrimental to the economics of operating the station.

The device according to the invention, shown schematically in the accompanying drawing, is intended to protect the turbine in the above case and, in addition, allows the preheater itself to be protected from excessive pressures in its vapor space.

As a pulse, the device uses an increase in the water level in the vapor space of the preheater to initiate protection. When raising the level to the emergency position, which is 25% of the available volume, the float relay A, connected in series

with the winding of the minimum-voltage relay EN, which serves to supply the operating current to the intermediate relay B.
