Abstract

353,774. Internal - combustion rammers. JOHNSON, N., Wharfedene, Skipton Road, Ilkley, Yorkshire. Sept. 30, 1930, No. 29203. [Class 124.] In an internalcombustion ramming machine the ramming foot 1 is directly connected to the piston 3. The explosion raises the cylinder 4, and compresses the spring 7. Exhaust takes place through ports 15. Scavenging is performed by air under the piston passing through the passage 16. The spring raises the foot 1 and when the tool hits the ground fuel is injected by the action of a lug 13 carried by the piston and adapted to strike the plunger 12 of a pump 11. A handle (not shown) is fitted to the fuel pump for actuating the plunger at starting.
