Abstract
468,096. Percussive drills. DEHN, F. B. (Barco Manufacturing Co.) June 2, 1936, No. 15423. [Class 124] In an internal-combustion hammer the piston return spring 12 is mounted outside the main cylinder 1, being contained in a casing 15 which forms a guide to the block 11 attached by the rod 9 to the piston 2. The stationary end of the spring is seated on a stiff spring 13. The block 11 has a cam surface on it to contact with a roller 19 forming part of the ignition circuit. The space between the piston 2 and the anvil block 5 forms a pre-compression space for the charge which is transferred by the passages 23 and 24 and the byepass 25 to the explosion space. In a modification the ignition roller contacts with the piston. Specification 440,462 is referred to.
