Abstract

390,689. Percussive drills. PFLœGER, A., 12, Panoramastrasse, and HAAGE, K., 8, Turmstrasse, both in Esslingen-on-Neckar, Germany. July 8, 1932, No. 19314. Convention date, July 22, 1931. [Class 124.] An internal-combustion percussive tool working on the four-stroke-cycle has a piston 2, carried by a spring 4. In the working stroke the piston uncovers a port 8, enabling the gases to press down the valve 6 and thus opening the cylinder head to the exhaust conduit 9. The compressed spring now performs the exhaust stroke, and passing its equilibrium position, returns the piston downward, sucking in the charge through the valve 11, and handle 12. The next upward movement of the piston compresses the charge, closes the valve 11 and completes the ignition circuit. The handle 14 breaks the ignition circuit until pressure is applied to it to hold the tool to the work.
