Abstract

Thioindigo series.-The stable reduction products of 6 : 61-diethoxythioindigo described in Specification 334,920 are obtained by treating the dyestuff with a reducing agent, other than a hydrosulphide, in the presence of a smaller quantity of an agent of alkaline reaction than that used in practice for preparing the vat of the dyestuff. In examples, the dyestuff is reduced with sodium hydrosulphite in the presence of ammonia, caustic soda or sodium carbonate. Specification 6490/07, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], also is referred to.
