Abstract

351,513. Cylinders. MULLER, G. W., 7, Avenue AndrÚ, Soisy-sous-Montmorency, Seine-et-Oise, France. March 20, 1930, No. 8932. Convention date, March 25, 1929. [Class 7 (ii).] A four-stroke engine having (a) an isolated combustion chamber 4, connected to the cylinder by one or more narrow openings 5 and containing the exhaust valve 9, and (b) an inlet valve 3 for combustible mixture in a part of the cylinder head closely approached by the piston, works by compression ignition, an adjustable plunger 10 being provided to increase the compression ratio at starting. A recess 8 in the piston allows early opening of the valve 3. A sparking-plug facilitates ignition when the engine is cold.
