Abstract
349,125. Rotary pumps and compressors. LUMB, W., St. Ives, Hatch Lane, Harmondsworth, Middlesex. Feb. 18, 1930, No. 5476. [Class 110 (ii).] Packing drums ; discharge and suction pipes and passages for pumps ; cooling parts.-At the junction of the end faces of the rotor 2 and cylinder 3 a packing ring 10 is forced against these surfaces by the pressure of the delivery fluid which enters receiver chambers 6 formed between each end of the rotor and the side covers of the cylinder. The packing ring is concave to engage the co-operating rotor and cylinder surfaces and is held in position by springs 12 and interposed rollers 11. The rotor is of channel form with a cam piston co-operating with a fluid-pressed sliding or rocking abutment to provide the working space and is made hollow with a baffle 8 inside so that cooling fluid can be circulated therethrough. The pumped fluid passes from the outlet port of the working chamber to the inlet ports 13 of the receiver chambers 6 and is delivered through ports 14.
