Abstract
Artificial silk of reduced lustre is obtained by adding to the viscose to be spun a non-glyceridic ester of animal or vegetable origin which is resistant to saponification by the alkali contained in the viscose. Suitable esters are lanoline, sperm oil, carnauba wax or beeswax, and these may be added in a proportion of 1 per cent or less calculated on the viscose. The addition may be made either to the viscose just before spinning, or to the carbon disulphide used for xanthating. The use of blown oils, such as blown sperm oil, is excluded.

Improvements in or relating to the manufacture of artificial threads or filaments from cellulose esters or ethers by the dry spinning or evaporative method
Improved process for the production of spun thread from artificial silk obtained by the ammoniacal-copper, viscose, collodion or acetate process and which has a superior feel, a lustre capable of variation from richness to mattness and which redyes uniformly
