Cellulose xanthates, processes for making filaments from. - Artificial silk &c. showing a diminished lustre is made by spinning a viscose with which has been incorporated a small proportion of liquid petroleum or petroleum jelly. In an example, a viscose containing 0.5 per cent of petroleum jelly is spun into a coagulating-bath, for example of a composition described in Specification 406/11. The petroleum jelly is retained in the filaments.
