Cellulose xanthates, processes for making filaments from.-The process of the parent Specification for the manufacture of artificial silk, artificial wool, staple fibre, &c. from viscose while using a coagulation bath containing as its main constituent an acid ester of the inorganic acid, is modified in that there is used an unripened viscose prepared from a ripened alkali cellulose. The viscose used may contain up to 10 per cent or more of cellulose; the use of high cellulose viscoses reduces the dilution of the spinning bath. Filaments of one denier may be made by the process, and these filaments have a dry strength of 3 grams or more per denier and a wet strength of 2 grams or more.
