Abstract
The lustre of artificial silk obtained by the ammoniacal-copper, viscose, collodion, or acetate process is modified by adding to the initial material or to the "semiproducts," boron compounds, such as boric acid or borax, if necessary in combination with fats or free fatty acids, mono-or poly-hydric-alcohols, inversion sugar, organic polyhydroxy compounds, or alphatic, naphthene, or terpene hydrocarbons. The silk so treated is stated to become elastic, and has a superior feel and more uniform-dyeing properties.
