Abstract
347,643. Centrifugal pumps. TAMINI, M., 2, Piazza Molozzo da Forli, Milan, Italy. Oct. 15, 1929, No. 31352. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1928. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 110 (i).] Two impellers or groups of impellers of a centrifugal pump are arranged to act on the fluid in series or in parallel by means of an externally operated valve M which is arranged co-axially with the driving shaft of the pump. In the closed position of the valve shown in the Figure suction chambers A1, A2 are connected to delivery chambers B1, B2 respectively, while with the valve in the open position fluid is drawn only from the suction chamber A2 which is connected to the delivery chamber B2. In the closed position the fluid from A1 passes to the runners d1, f1 and thence to B1 while that from A2 passes to the runners d2, f2 and thence to B2. In the open position the fluid from A2 passes to the runners d2, f2, through the ducts h2 to the chamber N, and thence through the runners d1, f1. In an alternative arrangement of the pump the suction chambers A1, A2 are arranged at opposite ends of the pump. In both arrangements the delivery ports are at the same end of the pump.
