Abstract

346,576. Uniting by fusion. STEWARTS & LLOYDS, Ltd., and STEWART, W., 41, Oswald Street, Glasgow. April 16, 1930, No. 12012. [Class 83 (iv).] The adjacent ends 3, 4 of two pipes 1, 2 are jointed together by enlarging them to a partspherical shape to engage spherical zones on a hollow internal member 5 and then welding the edges thereof to the said internal member. For high pressure pipe lines the joint is strengthened by flanges 9, 10 disposed upon the pipe ends and connected by bolts 11. The assembling of the parts may be facilitated by first spot-welding the member 5 to the end of one of the pipes.
