Abstract

521,336. Pipe joints. SUTTON, A. W. Dec. 14, 1938, No. 29691/39. Divided out of 518,357. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint in which the substantially triangular space between the flared or flanged ends of abutting pipes is filled by a metal ring B and the edges of the flanges a are welded together, the angles between the flanges and the pipe axes are not less than 6 degrees, and the joint is held during welding by collars bearing against the flanges and pressed together by axial bolts. The collars are then replaced by a ring E having a groove shaped to fit the flanges and secured by transverse bolts F.
