Joint-making packing.-A high pressure pipe joint consists of a lens ring a of hard metal having curved surfaces l, m adapted to be engaged between oblique surfaces on the ends of the pipes j, k. The said sealing surfaces are protected against the incidence of solid particles in the conveyed fluid by rubber &c. packing rings b, c which are located in grooved flanges d, e provided on the inner circumference of the lens ring. Specification 249,001 is referred to.
