Abstract

364,823. Pipe joints. ENGLISH STEEL CORPORATION, Ltd. and ANDERSON, D. M., Vickers Works, Sheffield. Dec. 24, 1930, No. 38896. [Class 99 (i).] In a joint for pipes &c. one or both pipe ends are internally grooved to form a slightly flexible flange 4 which is held in contact with the other pipe by internal fluid pressure, the flange having a ridge 10 at its inner periphery so as to provide a small area of contact. Collapse of the flange is prevented by a perforated spacing ring 5 or by a shoulder 9 on the end face of the pipe. The pipes are secured by arcuate clamps 7 having radial or conical faces 11 which engage with flanges on the pipes. The clamps 7 may be formed so as to engage with threads or a number of flanges 8 on each pipe. Specification 305,609, [Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for], is referred to.
