May 30, 1930, No. 16772. Convention date, May 30, 1929. [Class 38 (ii).] In a combined voltage and current transformer employing cascade connections, the parts 1, Fig. 3, forming cores for the voltage windings serve as interlinking windings 10, Fig. 4, for the current transformer, and the parts 6, Fig. 4, forming cores for the current windings serve as interlinking bindings 5, Fig. 3, for the voltage transformer. The primary and secondary windings 2, 3 for voltage measurement are arranged as shown in Fig. 3. The primary and secondary windings 7, 8 for current measurement are arranged as shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 5 shows how the two sets of windings are built up in combination. Circulating current in the cores 6 for the current transformer are avoided by winding the core plates spirally. A copper plate may also be added to supplement the conducting capacity of the magnetic plates as interlinking windings. The cores 1 for the voltage transformer are divided at 11 in order that the transformer may be built up from standard core parts on which standard windings have been assembled.
