Abstract
342,605. Impact pulverizers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and WAYMARK, D. H., Fraser & Chalmers Engineering Works, Erith, Kent. Sept. 12, 1929, No. 27718. [Class 59.] The head of a hammer or beater of an impact pulverizer is made in two parts which are adapted to be independently adjusted in position on the shaft to compensate for wear. The head comprises two parts 5, 6 of manganese steel, which are provided with teeth 7, 8 to engage corresponding teeth 3, 4 on the hammer shaft 2. The sides 11, 12 are slightly tapered to facilitate the passage of a ring 9 which locks the two parts of the head on to the shaft. Lugs 13 . . 16 on the head overhang the sides of the shaft 2 for centralizing the head. The head is adjusted for wear by removing the ring 9 and displacing one or both parts of the head through a tooth or teeth.
