Abstract

239,723. Millar, G. W., and Blair, D. A. Oct. 8, 1924. Roller mills. - Relates to crushing-rollers for use in cane-crushing mills &c. and of the kind having incorporated therein steel or other studs, pegs, pins, or their equivalent which present a harder surface than the iron of the roller. The steel or other studs &c. are positioned in a mould, and the roller then cast so as to incorporate the studs &c. therein. The projecting ends of the studs a are afterwards broken off as shown in the middle portion of the roller, and the roller is machined to form a series of circumferential grooves or ridges b as usual. The studs may be of round, square, triangular, or other crosssection.
