Abstract
537,289. Jaw crushers. NORDBERG MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 6, 1939, No. 2032/41. Convention date Dec. 12, 1938. Divided out of 537,117. [Class 59] A crusher plate for a jaw crusher has a rearward wedge-shaped extension which fits into a complementary recess in the jaw, the plate being held in place by bolts. The plate may be made of manganese steel and may be flat, as shown at 12, or curved as shown at 12a. Instead of manganese steel, any metal having the same ductility and the same resistance to wear and abrasion may be used. Each plate is provided on its back with a wedge-shaped extension 15 which is provided with an insert 20 of metal preferably less ductile than manganese steel. The extension fits into a complementary recess 10 in the crusher jaw, and the plate is held in place by one or more bolts 24 which pass through the jaw and screw into the inset 20. The construction enables the plate to be turned end-for-end to compensate for uneven wear and allows the plate to spread slightly in use without effecting its attachment to the jaw.
