Abstract

559,404. Bolts and nuts. BROCKHOUSE, & CO., Ltd., J., and PARKES, A. Nov. 9, 1942, No. 15790. [Class 89 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] Relates to screw holding means for the dies of drop forging and other metal making machines and consists in a split nut construction that facilitates removal of the screws should they become jammed with scale or upset by contact with the dieblock. The die 12 is held by, say, four screws 11 in lugs 10. The nuts 15 are in two or more parts dowelled at 18 and held together by a ring 20 and screws 21. The flange 16 is eccentric to the body of the nut to prevent rotation in the lug The screw extends sufficiently beyond the lug in the direction of the head 13 to permit the nut to be driven out of the housing by blows on the head so that after removal of the ring 21 the nut sections fall apart permitting the screw to be withdrawn freely through the bore in the lugs.
