Abstract

476,358. Drawing bolts etc.; dies. STEVENS, A. H. (National Machinery Co.) Feb. 26, 1937, No. 5856. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] A die for forming bolt blanks and the like comprises a cylindrical part 2 of work size terminating in a bevelled face 3 which continues in a cylindrical part 4, then in a tapered surface 5 and cylindrical surface 6. The part 4 is of a diameter corresponding to minimum tolerance and is. the initial size of the new die. A bore represented by CD represents the maximum tolerance when the die has been worn. Jamming of the bolt blank is prevented by this construction. A similar arrangement may follow on to a smaller section when bolts are to be forged of more than one diameter in the shank portion.
