Abstract

341,939. Smallarms. FROMMER, R. VON, 158, Soroksari Ut, Budapest. Oct. 17, 1929, No. 31560. [Class 119.] Breech actions, drop-down barrel.- A cocking rod, for drop-down sporting guns, of the kind having an extension for releasing an automatic cartridge-ejector, has the extension connected thereto by a screw thread whereby the effective length of the release member and the cocking rod can be adjusted. As shown, the hammer 3 of a sporting gun is pivotally mounted on a pin 2 within the breech-body 1 and is actuated by the pin 5 of a firing spring 4. The hammer is cocked, when the barrel is tilted, by a cocking lever 13 which cooperates with the shoulder 11 of a release member 10 which is screwed to a cocking rod 7. The cocking rod is kept in permanent contact with the nose 6 of the hammer 3 by a spring 8. The release member 10 has a tooth 38 which is adapted to release the cartridge - ejector. Rotation of the cocking rod 7 is prevented by the engagement of a screw 9 with a flat surface 16 formed thereon, the screw also forming an abutment for a shoulder 15 on the pin 5 whereby the latter is prevented from contacting with the hammer 3 in the uncocked position thereof. By this means, the firing pin of the hammer is prevented from protruding, after firing, beyond the surface 39 of the breechbody 1. To adjust the length of the cocking rod 7 and extension 10, the said parts are rotated relatively to each other after the cocking lever 13, hammer 3, and the pin 9 have been removed.
