Abstract
341,234. Stays for box lids. THOMPSON, J., 104, Piercy Street, Newtown, Wednesbury, Staffordshire. Dec. 14, 1929, No. 38323. [Class 65 (i).] A stay for the hinged lids of boxes and the like consists of two arms d, i pivoted to the lid and the box respectively ; the pivot e of arm d is arranged to resist rotation, while the arm i is free on its pivot. The arm i carries two pins m, p, and the arm d has a slot n in which the pin m slides. As the lid is opened, the pin m moves into the branch 2 of the slot n, and, after full opening, slight closing brings the notch o in the end of arm d on to the pin p to support the lid, the pin m moving into the main part of the slot. Further opening brings pin m into the part 1 of the slot, and on closing the lid the end of arm d swings clear of the pin p. A spring tending to close the arm i inwardly may be added.
