Abstract

340,203. Mercury vapour lamps. WHITE, A. E., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.-(Claude Neon Lights, Inc. ; 41, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.) July 18, 1929, No. 22165. [Class 39 (i).] An elongated glow-discharge tube for outdoor display and like purposes has a filling of neon and mercury to produce a high-intensity blue light, the quantity of neon being sufficient to cause the pressure within the tube to be in excess of the usual pressure of about 5À5 mm. at normal temperature e.g. 60‹ F. Preferably a pressure of 8 to 30 mm. is employed. A table is given showing the gas pressures to be used for certain minimum temperatures.
