UNITED ST S PA NT OFFICE- J'ACQUES RISLER, F PARIS, FRANCE, ASSIGNOR TO RISZERCORPORATION OF AMERICA, i OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, A (3ORPOIl-ItAlllIOll' OF ELECTRIC LAMP No Drawing. Application filed August a, 1927, Serial No. 211,;42'eam1 in France November 2, 1926.
My present invention relates to electric lamps, and more particularly to luminous electrical discharge tubes.
The light emitted by luminous electrical 5 discharge tubes has heretofore had the disadvantage, for' most purposes, of showing some predominant color. It is'the object of my present invention to provide a luminous electrical discharge'tube whichemits light- I that is' approximately White to theeye.
I" have discovered that when an electrical discharge is passed through-a mixture of substantially '70% neon and 30% helium under reduced pressure an' approximately 7 White light is produced My invention eon.-
5 mm. of mercury.
sists of an electrical discharge tube filled under reduced pressure with a mixture of substantially 7 0% neon and helium.
The discharge tube itself may be con 20 structed according to any of the several known methods and designs for making. luminous electrical discharge tubes. The 1 total pressure of the gaseous mixture in the tube should preferably be between'lO and What I claim and desire'to secure by'LettersPatentis: R luminous electrical discharge tube contaming a-mixture of substantially neon a0 and 30% helium at a total pressureoi bee tween 10" and 5 of mercur'y.=- In testimony whereof I my ig ture. i
