[Class 39 (i)] [See also Groups XI and XVIII] A neon discharge tube 1 is sealed within a fluorescent mercury discharge tube 2 so as to provide separate external electrodes, and the area of the light-emitting surface of the mercury tube is approximately twice that of the neon tube. The tones of the illumination may be altered by varying the relative luminous intensity of the tubes as by the means described in Specification 416,388.
