Abstract
340,229. Searchlights. WHITE, A. E., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.-(Claude Neon Lights, Inc. ; 41, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.) July 18, 1929, No. 22166. [Class 75 (iv).] A beacon or searchlight is fitted with a neon or like tube having large cold electrodes and operated at a high current, such as half an ampere. The tube is of about 5 mm. diameter and contains neon at a pressure of 8-15 mm. of mercury. It is made of a grid-like form as shown, the electrodes 23 being enclosed in parallel enlarged ends 24 connected by glass bridges 33. The portions 24 are supported adjustably in a recess in the reflector-casing so as not to obscure the light. Two or more such tubes may be arranged in a single reflector, the grid shaped portions being in parallel planes and the solid portions of one opposite to the gaps of the other.
