[Class 3 (ii).] In a lamp for use as a display sign, one or more light sources are surrounded for a portion or the whole of their circumference by a plurality of radiating vanes which are mounted in and between independent upper and lower supports and have their outer edges exposed and unenclosed by a lantern casing or any other surrounding framework. The vanes may be made of glass, porcelain, parchment, or other transparent or translucent material, in which case part of the light is transmitted through the body of the vanes, or they may be made of reflecting metal or other opaque material ; they may be of uniform or non-uniform shape and size, and they may be so shaped as to simulate a basket of flowers. The light source may be supported from above or below, may be enclosed in a tubular glass casing, and preferably comprises an electric incandescent filament bulb or a neon or other high tension discharge tube. Any part of the light source not surrounded by vanes may be fitted with a reflector. In the form shown, the vanes 1 are provided with painted or other decorations 1a, lettering, or the like, and are supported at the top in the inverted channelled arms 4 of a cap 3 mounted on an elongated filament bulb 2, and at the bottom in the slotted arms 6 of an end-piece 5 fitted around the bulb.
