[Class 3 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] In an advertising globe, Belisha beacon, or other device in which floodlighting and diffused lighting are produced, a container A<2> or globe A<1> mounted on a vertical pillar or support houses a pair of lamps c, c<1>, light from one of which is directed by a reflector B substantially horizontally or at an inclination to the horizontal through an opening or transparent material at one side of the container or globe, whilst light from the second lamp c<1> illuminates the interior of the container or globe and is diffused through translucent portions thereof. One lamp or, as shown in Fig. 7, both lamps may be carried by the reflector, which may be pivotally mounted at b. In Fig. 7, the container A<2> comprises an opaque part a<4> and a translucent part. In Fig. 6, the reflector is mounted on a pivoted link b<2>, and the globe A<1> is partly transparent and partly translucent. In other forms, the globe is entirely translucent with an opening for the reflector. The reflector may be conical or pyramidal. The container may be adjustable angularly about a vertical axis on the pillar. The lampholder carried by the reflector may be telescopically adjustable.
