Abstract

498,853. Lamp globes and reflectors. AMPLILUX LIGHTING & ILLUMINATION CO., Ltd., and STARKIE, D. July 16, 1937, No. 19742. [Class 75 (ii)] A tubular light distributing device E of glass or other transparent material is adapted to be secured at one end as by set-screws A<1> to a canopy A or the like, supporting an electric lamp C, and is provided at the other end with an outwardly extending annular rim E<3> of generally triangular section so that all light rays passing from the lamp C through the inner surface E<7> of the rim are totally reflected by the surface E<4> and pass through the surface E<5>, E<6>. As shown, the surface E<4> is slightly concave, and the surface E<5>, E<6> convexoconcave, in axial planes. The inner or outer surface of the part E maybe roughened, stippled, ribbed or ground. A reflector may extend between the end E and the lamp C, and a reflector may be suspended from the canopy around the part E to reflect downwards light passing therethrough. A number of lights may be suspended or supported from a single support for direct or indirect lighting. Specification 352,724 is referred to. The Provisional Specification states also that the lower face of the rim may also be roughened or ribbed.
