Abstract

892,964. Street lamps. MILGATE, H., and MILGATE, P. Jan. 18, 1960 [Jan. 16, 1959], No. 1662/59. Class 75(4) A pedestrian crossing is illuminated by a beacon of the type having a lamp mounted in a distinctively coloured globe which is formed with an opening in the lower part through which a beam of light is directed along the crossing from a second light source mounted in a reflector carried adjustably on a bracket within the globe. In addition, a ring of windows or apertures may be provided in the lower part of the globe to illuminate pedestrians about to use the crossing. In the form shown, the globe A is in two parts, the upper part having a flange engaging over the lower part. A window B is formed in the lower part a through which light from a lamp C mounted in a reflector D is directed on to the crossing. The reflector D and lamp C are pivotally mounted on a bracket carried by a support D1 upstanding from the base of the usual flashing lamp Cl of the beacon. Further windows b<SP>1</SP> are provided to illuminate the pavement surrounding the beacon.
