Abstract

434,316. Electric incandescent lamps with internal reflectors. BURKE, P. W., Godenail, Narayanganj, Eastern Bengal, India. Dec. 14, 1934, No. 35934. [Class 39 (ii)] In an electric incandescent lamp of the type provided with an internal reflector of glass or metal, the reflector is secured to, and supported by, a series of arms which radiate from a short stem through which the leading-in wires pass, the incandescent filament being supported either by the reflector or by frames or hooks carried by the radial arms. The arms may also support or enclose the leading-in wires. In one form the reflector 6, Fig. la, is supported from the stem 5 by four arms 7, the leading-in wires 4 being taken through two of the arms to the filament 9 mounted on supports carried by the reflector. The reflecting surface is an anticlastic one, and may be of various shapes or curvatures to obtain light radiation in different directions or planes. Alternatively, a number of plane reflecting surfaces approximating to a curved surface may be used. Fig. 3a shows a reflector 6 substantially of the form of an inverted cone with a vertical glass stem 10 at its lowest point carrying radial wires which support a zig-zag filament 9. The bulbs or reflectors may be of coloured glass, and the arms supporting the reflectors may be of glass or other material. The lamps may be of either gas-filled or vacuum type.
