Closure members.-A fluid-regulating .valve of the type comprising two valves 4, 5 of unequal diameter on a common spindle 6, balanced by a lever 7, 9 weighted at 11, is adapted so that both valves seat simultaneously and the slopes of the seating surfaces 2, 3 are such that in the fully open position the areas of fluid flow through the two valves are equal, whilst in intermediate positions of the valve the differences between these areas are sufficiently small to be negligible. By this means the valve is maintained substantially balanced throughout its lift under the action of the counterweight lever 11 since the losses of head due to flow through the valves 4, 5 are substantially equal. The weight 11 and its leverage are determined by the difference between the areas of faces of the valves 4, 5 acted on by the higher pressure of the fluid controlled.
