Abstract
333,792. Weis, H. T. Oct. 25, 1928, [Convention date,]. Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.-Relates to apparatus for cleaning the tubes 12 of watertube boilers of the kind wherein cleaning fluid is supplied to a tube 13 which is formed with nozzles 19 and is rotatably mounted in the combustion chamber of the boiler. The nozzles 19 are normally closed by valves 28 which open when highpressure cleaning water, or water and air, is admitted to the tube 13, but which allow low-pressure cooling water to circulate therethrough from an inlet 16 to an outlet 17 during the intervals between cleaning. The inlet and outlet pipes 16, 17 are provided with valves 37, 38 respectively which are opened when the cooling water, controlled by a valve 18 in the inlet pipe, is circulated; when however the cleaning water valve 31, and, if desired, an air valve 32<1> are opened the outlet valve 38 is closed. The valves 28 are each disposed within a two-part housing 19, 22 and are normally held on a seating 26 in the inner part 22 by a spring 30. The cleaning tube is rotated from a pulley 35 through suitable gearing, swivelling joints 15 being provided between the said tube and the inlet and outlet pipes 16, 17.
