Ashpits.-In a dry - bottom gasproducer a, of the kind having an ash chamber e provided with alternately - operated inlet and outlet doors f, g, an interlocking device is provided to prevent opening or partial opening of one door until the other is fully closed. This device comprises sectorshaped plates f<2>, g<2> secured on the hinge-pins f<1>, g<1> of of the doors, and a rod h adapted to slide in a bearing i so that one or other of its wedge-shaped ends may engage behind the plate f<1> or g<1> of the closed door and prevent its opening until the other door is closed and the rod free to move. The rod is actuated by a handle k which may be connected by a rod l with a reversing-valve for the producer in such a manner that the door g cannot be opened while gas-making is proceeding in a downward direction.
