Coke-oven and like doors.-A door b is held in the mouth of a coke oven by a hinged cross bar c, and a wedge-shaped lever h is pivoted at e between the door and bar to force the door into position. An inclined face k on the lever h engages a similar inclined face m on the bar c. The handle of the lever h is inclined towards the wedge k which may alternatively be weighted, so that the lever tends to fall into inoperative position. The bar c is engaged at one end by a catch d and is hinged at the other end by a multi-leaf hinge o.
