Catches, yiclding.-A fastening for sliding doors comprises two spring - controlled pivoted catches 7, the engaging portions 11 of which are so shaped that they interlock with, or are disengaged from, a diamond or similarly shaped striking-plate 3 by closing or opening the door. The catches may be secured in their fastening position by means of a sliding bolt 13 actuated by a follower 12 or by a key.
