Abstract

328,729. Holdcroft, J. F. March 6, 1929. Butt joints ; with valves.- In a coupling for pipes &c. of the kind in which a ballvalve m is removed from its seat by a stem d when the coupling is tightened, the seat j is conical and the ball is retained in an annular cavity n when the coupling is tightened. The stem is secured to a piston comprising perforated discs c and a gauze filter b, and is actuated, when the nut s is screwed down, by the conical end of the pipe connection r. The piston is retained by a spring ring f, and the conical valve seat j is detachable. A groove o is provided to facilitate dislodgement of the ball.
