Abstract

Friction clutches. - A friction disc c, having prepared faces c<1> and sliding on pins c<2> within the female half a keyed to the driven shaft b, is gripped on engagement between the flange d<1>, e<1> of sleeves mounted on the driving shaft s. 'The sleeves d, e have grooves d<3> and slots e<3> respectively, and cranked levers hare pivoted in the inner sleeve and project through the slots e<3>. A screw ring i on the sleeve e<2> is engaged by noses h<1> of the levers h and is adjustable to allow for wear of the disc. The clutch is engaged by advancing a ring j, which depresses the levers and causes the noses h<1> to press against the ring i and force the flange e<1> against the disc. Springs f tend to press apart the gripping flanges d', e<1>, prevented from relative rotation by guide pins g. The position of the levers with regard to the sleeves may be reversed, with the screwed ring threaded on tne inner sleeve. The levers may have rollers h<x> to facilitate their engagement by the striking sleeve.
