397,384. Friction clutches. ANDERTON, A., Railway Ironworks, Castleton, Rochdale. Feb. 10, 1933, No. 4085. [Class 80 (ii).] A friction clutch comprises a faced disc b slidable on pins c within the female half a and adapted to be gripped between the flange d<1> of a sleeve d keyed to a shaft e and a disc g slidable on the sleeve and prevented from relative rotation by guide pins h. The flange d<1> and disc g are normally pressed apart by springs j. A number of toggle levers k pivot at one end in sockets in the end face of a sleeve f adjustably threaded on the sleeve d, and at the other end carry rollers l engaging the disc g. Links o connect the levers k to lugs n on an operating ring m slidable on the sleeve f, so that the clutch is engaged by advancing the ring m towards the disc g.
