Abstract
321,086. Bekk & Kaulen Chemische Fabrik Ges., Dr., and Thimann, M. Dec. 3, 1928. Etching. - In a process of producing photomechanical printing plates by means of light sensitive chromate-colloid layers, the laid free metal is etched with acids such as lactic acid or salt solutions or mixtures such as aluminium chloride and iron chloride or iron chloride and nitric acid, the latter preferably in a highly concentrated form such as a paste made by mixing the solid chloride with nitric acid. A solution of iodine in potassium iodide may be added. For example etching means may comprise 75 parts solid iron chloride dissolved in 25 parts of water to which is added 10 parts nitric acid of specific gravity 1.4 and 1 part of a solution of iodine in potassium iodide.
