Abstract
306,151. Kelsen, E. Feb. 16, 1928, [Convention date]. Iron, obtaining.-The electrolyte consists of a solution of an iron salt to which is added two or more salts e.g. those of sodium, potassium calcium and magnesium, in quantity sufficient to raise the conductivity to a value exceeding that obtainable by the addition of one salt up to saturation. The added salts may have the same or different anions or cation. The concentration of the original iron solution is preferably somewhat below saturation. Suitable compositions are (1) ferrous chloride 122.5 gms., calcium chloride 109 gms., potassium chloride 100 gms., water 497 gms. (2) ferrous chloride 122.5 gms., calcium chloride 109 gms., potassium chloride 110 gms., water 525 gms. (3) ferrous chloride 122.55 gms., sodium chloride 80 gms., potassium chloride 80 gms., water 425 gms.; the conductivity of these baths at 90‹ C. is respectively 0.429, 0.440, 0.446.
