Abstract

335,203. Chipman, R. N. Dec. 22, 1928, [Convention date]. Weed-destroying compositions.-The herbicidal efficiency of chlorate weed killers is increased by rendering them neutral or acid by the addition of acids, acid salts, or salts which have an acid reaction. The addition of the acid-reacting substances must not be sufficient to cause liberation of chlorine from the chlorate solution. Acids specified are hydrochloric, sulphuric, nitric, boric, oxalic, and tartaric, acid salts, sodium acid sulphate, potassium acid tartrate, and monocalcium phosphate, and acid-reacting salts ammonium, aluminium, ferric, copper, and zinc chlorides, sodium bichromate, and sodium ferrosilicate. Solutions of sodium, potassium, and calcium chlorates are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect 91 (3) (a) refers to the use, as acid-reacting substance, of mercury chloride. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
