Abstract

Herbicidal suspensions are prepared by mixing a concentrated solution of an alkali metal salt of a phenoxyacetic acid, with stirring, with an acid-reacting solution containing cations of a divalent or trivalent metal and a protective colloid. The pH of the aqueous phase may be between 5 and 1; the cations may be provided by dissolving calcium or magnesium chloride, or manganese or aluminium sulphate therein. Suitable protective colloids are gum arabic or sulphate lye. The preferred phenoxy-acetic acids are 2:4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid which may be employed as their sodium salts. Specification 630,023 is referred to.
