Abstract

320,427. Geer, W. C. July 18, 1928. Balls.-Golf balls formed of rubber &c. or a rubber &c. coating which may contain pigment, are given a tough outer surface by treatment with an organic solution of a halogen salt of an amphoteric metal, e.g. tin tetrachloride in ethylene di-chloride. After treatment the ball is washed by immersion in ethylene di-chloride and then in ethyl alcohol in which caustic soda or other alkali may be dissolved.
