Abstract
An adsorbent aluminium oxide coating is produced on articles made of aluminium or of alloys containing at least 50 per cent of aluminium by immersion in or by spraying with an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate and potassium dichromate, with or without p applied electrolysis. The coating is then coloured by treatment with a solution of a salt of permanganic acid, e.g. sodium or potassium permanganate.
