Abstract

287,450. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. March 19, 1927, [Convention date]. Coating. - Magnesium and magnesium alloys are protected against corrosion by subjecting them to the simultaneous or successive actions of an acid other than hydrochloric or sulphuric acids and of bichromates. The solution may consist of bichromate and chromic acid, or of bichromate and nitric acid, and the treated articles may be washed with cold and hot water which may contain some bichromate. The resulting coating may serve as a base for lacquers, or the, like.
